Health and Wealth the Medicine Wheel Way: Part 5

Today's Guest Post will conclude the ideas contained in the piece provided to us from the goodness of Ralph P. Brown's heart. It has been an extreme honor to have his words for these pages because the truths he shares are important and give so much to everyone.

It is Mother Connie's hope that your lives have been enriched from learning about The Medicine Wheel and the Native American culture.

"
MOTHER – the Social

I hesitate to assign a direction to this aspect because of the negative connotation association with "down" so I use "Mother" because Mother energy flows upward with Father energy spirals downward. To remember this you can think of "Mother Earth" and "Father Sun". Together they form a twin helix that spirals through all things. In people this energy travels through the natural channel in our spine.

We should care for our social/communal environment like a mother who cares for her child. In Native culture, there is a strong sense of community because we recognize that "It takes a village". All that we are as individuals affects the whole, which affects us in return. We need to care about the whole just as we care about the self and all of the dimensions that make up that being. We rely on others for many things. We rely on the creatures and other beings on this earth for our very survival. We are a herd animal and, as such, we were meant to know our place in the great circle of life. We are meant to know how we relate to all others – and how they relate to us. Each person contributes either positively or negatively to his or her environment and community so it is in everyone's best interest to strive for a healthy relationship with the world and all of the creatures in it.

Relating this to the four stages of the growth cycle … when a baby is born everything is done for the baby. He is clothed, fed, cleaned and tended to by someone else. In a sense, the world (at least as the baby knows it) revolves around him. As he grows and his awareness increases, he sees a bigger world and it is a natural inclination to try and master that world so he becomes more independent – going further and doing more for himself. Eventually in his learning, he discovers that the world becomes less about him and more about the whole. If his learning is in balance, he knows the importance of serving the whole because he knows that serving the whole is, in essence, serving the self.

A portion of our living should be dedicated to community service on some level. At the root of this is learning to live in harmony with our environment and the community – receiving from them and giving to them.

FATHER – the Occupational

Occupational is more than what we do to earn a living. It is how we "work" to enrich our lives and how we contribute to the whole of society. It rises above simply performing a task to doing so with a positive attitude.

In our occupation we can acquire new skills, discover new ideas, all of which can feed our physical, spiritual, emotional and mental bodies. Understanding how work contributes to our own life, our families, our community and our world can elevate a task-oriented position to something more meaningful and fulfilling.

A key to finding this fulfillment is finding something that you like to do... finding something that is in line with your values, morals and beliefs. Barring that, it is about having the right attitude, working with your heart, and finding joy in the achievement and the doing because you know what you do is important on so many levels. Do it like you mean it!

SUMMARY

Energy is all around us. We are created from energy. There are many different forms of energy: heat, light, male, female, positive, negative and so on. There is also a Universal Energy - a divine energy - that when we tap into it and align ourselves with its flow is life changing.

To align ourselves with this flow we must bring all of the bodies mentioned above into harmony. When all of the bodies are in harmony and balance, it is like all of the planets aligning for us and our good.

Energy is about vibration and vibrational levels. If we are to resonate with those things on a higher vibrational level, we must first raise our own. We enter this higher stream by making better choices that affect all levels and all bodies. These choices come from positive thoughts and actions. Our quest for good health and well-being has, at its heart, the quest for a good life. Being well is living well.

In the traditional way, I place this information at your feet. If you should find something good in it, pick it up and walk with it because it now belongs to you. We do this with gifts of this nature because we understand that each person has their own free will. With that free will comes a responsibility for this gift of life that is ours. Each person must take the initiative and be an active participant to his or her well-being. The symbolic "laying at your feet" shows that you have to take it upon yourself to pick up and use this information. Like any other medication, this only works if you take it.

My prayer is that each person will find balance through this awareness which will then spread into the whole of our world and mend the Sacred Hoop of Life that has been broken for too long.

In Spirit,
Ralph P. Brown (Tawennihake)"

Has Spring Sprung?

"Spring has sprung. The grass has riz. Where last year's careless driver is."--Burma Shave Sign

Who doesn't love Spring? The birds certainly seem to be enjoying the season in our neck of the woods. The Cranes are putting on quite a show on the North Platte River. The Canadian Snow Geese have left southeast NE to join their feathered friends along the corridor at the Platte River, too. The Bluejays and Cardinals can be heard screeching and singing and praising the season to the blue skies! I was keenly aware of their presence, along with the red Robins, as I tended the laundry at the clothesline today. The fresh air was delish! I'm sure the birds think so, too!

We are feathering a new nest so we're just learning how pretty it is to see how the light falls at various times of day. We are getting acquainted with the new floor plan and where the light swiches are placed. We are deciding from meal to meal whether we wish to take our food in the kitchen or the dining room-so many choices and delights; so little time!

Were we not in the pink of health, enjoying the local wildlife, having coffee here or there, arranging wall art and furniture would not be the joy it is. We are so grateful that we have learned about good clean water, minerals, organic and whole foods, the critical need for adequate rest and exercise. How blessed we are to understand the value of color, of alternative medicine, Far InfraRed products, and massage therapy! We count ourselves fortunate not to use antibiotics, microwave ovens and junk food. Our hearts are bursting with joy and gratitude; our bodies are healthy, strong and vibrant.

Thank goodness we have come to understand the importance of living our truth in love and forgiveness, acceptance and gratitude.

We are much like those birds who frequent our yard. We know our needs will be met.

Have I Been DUPED?

WELL! I WILL be dipped in dew!

Headlines all over the place are insisting that all the studies prove there is no good effect from taking vitamins and minerals!

Well! Well! Well! I wonder if they will also put up BILLBOARDS to that effect...

What became of the depletion of the soils? Has THAT changed? I saw no headline to that effect and the Feds themselves made it clear in 1936 that the soils were depleted of minerals and vitamins.

I wonder what the Feds and the people who conducted those studies would have to say about the fact that when my eye was red last week I used whole foods and Limu , not to mention water and my eye was 100% improved in 24 hours. Or, how would they be able to prove that my son's terrible, debilitating, recurring infections could not be managed by antibiotics but whole foods and vitamin supplements as well as good water eliminated all signs of infection very quickly? When Big Pharma's toxic substances gave us fits with horrible side effects and no cure how does that determine that vitamins and minerals are of no consequence?

I have NO CLUE who paid for these studies that make these claims but I have a funny feeling in my gut that if one were to follow the money the facts would show what we all suspect: IT IS ALL ABOUT CONTROL AND GREED.

Hey, headlines like those in the newspapers grab readers. They must do whatever they must do. It's a free country and if you want to spend your hard earned money to take antibiotics and yield to yeast infections, that is most certainly up to you. If you want to cave in to the fearmongering and take flu shots, that's entirely your choice.

I'll be honest with you, though. I'm going to continue eating whole foods, taking and drinking whole foods supplements, drinking great water and thinking good and loving thoughts. Sidebar: That means I won't give a thought to Big Medicine, Big Pharma and all those negative side effects; mustn't give them any of my energy. End Sidebar.

I dearly hope you understand how precious your good health is. Please don't pay any mind to those silly headlines because they simply are not true.

I have NOT been duped! And don't YOU get duped, either. I would love to invite you to learn the truth about vitamins and minerals, particularly Fucoidan, for example. Please visit http://www.pubmed.org/ .

Happy UN-Thanksgiving?

One of our houseguests greeted us today, the day following the holiday, with "Happy Un-Thanksgiving!" and it set me to thinking...

Perhaps the fun and comfort of being around family made our guest yearn for more of that FEELING of the special holiday. Maybe it was not so much the traditional fare of turkey and pumpkin pie as it was the warm and cozy feelings of connecting around a dinner table with aunts, uncles, cousins and siblings. The conversation, the laughter, the ambiance of a good experience like that is very impressive to our sensibilities-no matter our age.

Family customs, family activities all work to program our hearts. As human beings, we all seek pleasure and avoid pain. When we gather for a meal on Thanksgiving Day we make memories and those memories are stored in our image makers (hearts) until the pictures are seen and recalled by the brain as memories.

Here's hoping our children have had the kinds of experiences surrounding holidays and every day to program their lives to be filled with love, peace and joy. The more good experiences that are provided , the better able they will be to create holiday memories for their families. That will make the whole world a better place.

The energy of love and loving memories is very powerful, extremely comforting and exceedingly healing.

No Cooking? NO KIDDING?

By now you know what a health nut and foodie I am. You know I love to cook and I am all about healthy eating habits...

Some of you have complained to me that you don't LIKE to cook. Even those of you who do enjoy food prep and were pleased to have consulted with The Dinner Diva -continue to roam the aisles of the grocery store, hang from your cupboard doors, and poke your head into your fridge to answer the family's cries, "WHAT IS THERE TO EAT?"

I have such exciting news for you!

How would you like to have access to 400 ways to eat raw foods?

Now, don't you roll your eyes! I can hear you groaning, thinking it is just awful to think of veggies and fruits and no steak dinners! I know. You have a picture in your head of what Thanksgiving Dinner looks like and it does not include freshly squeezed wheat grass!

But I know about this Raw Foods Chef who has been a competitive body builder and she has proved by using raw foods and developing programs based on raw foods that you can be really healthy and it's not a lot of bother! Impressive, don't you think?

Her name is Kristen Suzanne. She is a beautiful woman with a real zest for life. She is devoted to helping us feel great, have more energy, and live longer. WHAT A CONCEPT!

Kristen is eager for us to have sound nutritional content, featuring phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. And she stresses the importance of COLOR!

Does Kristen's message sound like an echo of Mother Connie's? If it does, then you know why this is such good news!

Please do yourself a healthy favor ASAP and meet Kristen Suzanne !

OK, So I'm a Health Nut!

Everyone in my sphere of influence will tell you I am a health nut.

Emphasis on NUT, with a wink and a grin.

Yes. It's true. I drool over organic produce, grain, and meat. I bring produce into the house, rinse it in a sink full of filtered water, rich in minerals, and then I fuss over getting it refrigerated.
I make a big deal of nutrition. I intentionally balance colors and flavors, and junk food does not live at our house. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a passion of mine, in case you had not noticed.
So when I served dessert last evening, those whose toes were under the table were surprised.

Arranged on the tray were wedges of PIE DOUGH, sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon.
My favorite husband and his baby sister both squealed,
"KNEE PATCHES!"

They grew up with this sweet treat and their mother called the creation by one name; my mom always called it by another: PINWHEELS!

Every family has its own traditions, its unique history, stories and language. I find it fascinating.
As we munched, we talked and there was a steady stream of reminiscences about the comfort foods of our childhoods, the special dinners we recalled and who likes which foods.

I feel blessed to know what I know and feel grateful for my passion because food is such a critical piece of a healthy way of life. I also feel blessed to live in a wellness home: everything we do supports our good health. We have clean water, clean air, harmonized energy with respect to the electrical appliances, computer, even the phones, and we supplement our food with nutrients that are serving us very well. We even sleep peacefully on a special mattress, curling up and snuggly under a quilt that enhances our well being!

If you wish to augment your life with options to improve it and enhance it I invite you to visit

You don't have to be nuts to be healthy!
